This season, we’re excited to welcome an entirely new palette full of fall color trends. You can expect to see a mix of rich, earthy tones as well as vibrant pops of fun and playful shades. But shopping for these colors doesn’t mean you have to do a complete overhaul of your wardrobe. Thankfully, these color trends are easy to mix and match with items you have already hanging in your closet.
To give you some fashion inspiration, we’ll be sharing a few ways to incorporate those fall hues into your existing collection.
Fall Color Trends for 2024
Pantone has compiled a whole list of fall color trends expected to grace the runways this season. We’ll talk about each of them and give advice for incorporating them into your everyday wardrobe.
Tomato Cream
Tomato Cream is a warm, muted orange (so musty it’s almost brown) that reminds us of our favorite comfort food. Because of its creamy undertone, it can easily be paired with neutrals like beige, ivory, or even soft whites. However, it also looks good with contrasting colors, like dark wash jeans or a denim jacket. Either way, Tomato Cream is a versatile fall color that complements a variety of earthy tones quite well.
Golden Palm
Just like the autumn leaves, we love Golden Palm because it’s the perfect transitional color for summer. With yellow and gold tones, Golden Palm goes well with other warm colors like rust, terracotta, or burgundy. Just make sure to keep the colors in balance (too many at once can be a little overwhelming to the eye). Browns also work particularly well, especially if you have a pair of leather boots or mules!
Aventurine
For those who like a bold fall look, Aventurine is guaranteed to be a huge hit this season. This deep, forest green is the perfect jewel-toned color. Because it’s already quite dark, we think it looks best when paired with lighter tones. You can soften the palette by wearing a cream jacket or ivory wide-legged pants. But if you prefer darker tones for fall, Aventurine can also work well with other shades of blue. Dark-wash jeans, navy skirts, or even blue sweaters can enhance the overall look.
Red Orange
Nothing says fall like a bold and fiery color like Red Orange! This is a fun and vibrant shade that looks like spring or summer but works wonderfully with your autumn wardrobe. To offset the intensity, wear this Red Orange color with darker, neutral colors like charcoal gray, black, or navy. Just a hint of it (like on a belt or handbag) can really liven up your outfit to make it fit for fall.
Winter Sky
Unlike other fall color trends, Winter Sky is a bit more subtle. This cool-toned blue is reminiscent of the sky on a perfect fall day! If you’re going for a clean look, then you can wear a crisp white or cream blouse. Or opt for a monochromatic look by pairing the blue with different shades of grey, like charcoal or light grey.
Italian Plum
This is another one of those beautifully rich colors that is simply perfect for your fall wardrobe. We love the look of Italian Plum for evening wear, as it has that sophisticated and elevated look already. For example, this shade of purple is stunning as a wedding guest dress (or even just to spice up your date night). All you have to do is add some gold statement jewelry and you’ll be turning heads wherever you go!
Buckthorn Brown
Buckthorn Brown may not be the most exciting color on this list. But it’s a versatile staple that is guaranteed to add depth and warmth to any type of outfit. Having such subtle, golden undertones makes it easy to pair with lots of different colors. Cream and ivory always work (especially if it’s the focal point of your outfit). But it can also be worn with brighter colors, like a burgundy skirt or olive jacket.
Baritone Blue
This navy shade of Baritone Blue is a timeless color that will never go out of style for fall. The rich shade and cool undertones make it easy to match with a variety of different colors and materials. Leather is the perfect example. A cognac belt or handbag adds a touch of warmth that looks preppy and sophisticated at the same time. Or you can combine it with another elegant fall color for more pizazz, like burgundy, mustard, or orange.
White Swan
Despite what many people think, a clean white like White Swan is indeed a trendy color for fall. If you tend to have more of a minimalistic style, then this is a must-have tone for everyday wear. Pair it with other neutrals like grays or blacks, or add just a slight bit of warmth from another color on this list. And don’t be afraid to play with textures and materials! Knits, linens, and lace can make an all-white ensemble really unique and interesting!
Dark Gull Gray
If you’re looking for a color that can blend seamlessly into winter, Dark Gull Gray is it. This may be one of the more muted fall color trends, but it’s so easier to pair with a variety of different pieces. For example, you can soften it up with a white puffer jacket for a neutral look. Or you can sprinkle in colored accessories for a more vibrant look – like an olive green beanie or yellow scarf.
