There are so many hair products out there that claim to improve and enhance hair growth that it’s a little ridiculous. Unfortunately, a lot of these products don’t even work as advertised! This isn’t to say that they’re all bogus, though – I finally found a few that made my hair grow thicker and faster than before and they all contained guava leaf.
The products that did work were the ones that contained guava leaf as an ingredient. I’d heard about how guava leaf is supposed to promote hair growth, but I was skeptical. Now that I’ve tried some guava leaf hair care products, it’s safe to say that I’m a convert.

The all-Natural Benefits of Guava Leaf
Guava leaves are actually pretty impressive with how many beneficial properties they have. They’re full of antioxidants in addition to having antimicrobial, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory qualities. The leaves are also full of vitamins A, C and B2. All of these properties together are extremely beneficial for hair growth.
Hair loss, poor hair growth, and thinning hair are sometimes the result of unhealthy scalp conditions. The vitamins in guava leaves help by nourishing hair follicles, which in turn leads to increased growth.
The other guava leaf properties moisturize the scalp, reduce dandruff, and encourage thicker, faster regrowth. The antioxidants and antimicrobial agents prevent damaged hair and split ends. All in all, guava leaf is basically a one stop shop for all your healthy hair care needs!
Impressive Guava Leaf Hair Growth Products
I tried quite a few hair products with guava leaf because I was curious to see how many (if any) were legitimate. While some were disappointing, there were a bunch that really did their job! I’ve made a list of my top picks that I tried so anyone who’s curious can give them a go.
1) Sent From Earth Guava Leaf Advanced Natural Formula Shampoo
I almost gave up on this product because after three weeks I saw no change in my hair. I decided to give it a month before I gave up, and I’m glad I did. By the fifth week my hair felt thicker and healthier. It also looked shinier. I had a lot of people commenting on how much better my hair looked after I started using this.
2) Omura Organic Guava Leaves
These are dried guava leaves meant to be boiled into tea, which you cool and then apply to your scalp. On the plus side, I noticed a result quicker with this treatment than I did with any other guava product. I also found that my hair stayed cleaner for longer. On the negative side, it’s a pain to remember to make the tea up every other night. (You can also drink the tea you make from the leaves if you want, it’s perfectly safe but a bit bitter).
3) Nova Scotia Organics Healthy Hair, Skin & Nails
If you want something completely organic to try and treat hair loss, this is the way to go. These caplets contain guava leaf extract (along with a number of minerals and vitamins). It took me a couple of weeks to notice a difference in my hair with these pills, but around the six week mark it definitely seemed like my hair was growing in thicker than before!
4) Guava DNA Guava Leaf Tea
If you’re not keen on making your own tea, these guava leaf tea bags are something I highly recommend. It’s a lot easier to make the hair treatment with these than it is with the loose leaves. I saw a change in my hair about three weeks in. It felt thicker and healthier. I also liked the way it soothed my scalp when I applied it.
5) Hempz Haute Mess Dry Shampoo Tropical Guava Highball
I’m normally not a huge fan of dry shampoos because they usually leave my hair feeling almost crispy and unwashed. I decided to take a risk with this one because it had guava leaves as an ingredient. As far as dry shampoos go, it left my hair actually feeling clean and got rid of the oiliness I sometimes have a problem with. As far as hair regrowth, I can’t say it made a huge change except my hair definitely seemed to be growing faster.
Improving Hair Health
With all the products out there that swear up and down they’ll increase hair growth, finding one that actually works is a bit of a crapshoot. I went through plenty of guava leaf hair care products before finding the ones I listed, and most of them were just a waste of money.
The ones that did work are the ones I swear by, and I fully intend to keep using them in order to get my hair as thick and healthy as it used to be when I was younger. Most of these guava leaf products are natural, soothing, and restorative, and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants something that will improve hair growth!
