So, if you’ve been wondering how to wrap books so that they look perfect under your Christmas tree this year, keep reading. We will teach you how to wrap books for a gift so beautifully that people will believe you paid to have a pro wrap it for you. Your present presentation will be on point!
1. Portfolio Style
Materials:
- Choice of wrapping paper
- Book for gift
- Box cutter
- Scissors
- Double sided tape
Instructions:
- Lay out your roll of selected wrapping paper.
- Place your book on top of the wrapping paper and fold over the wrapping paper, making a crease to mark the width of the book on the wrapping paper.
- Remove the book and fold the crease neatly.
- Taking your box cutter, proceed to cut from the crease.
- Take the wrapping paper that you just cut away, place your book in the center. Proceed to fold the left side inwards, approximately 2 inches. Then, fold again over your book.
- Fold the other side of wrapping paper inwards, approximately 2 inches. Mark this crease and cut the excess away with a box cutter.
- Fold your wrapping paper over and mark the creases where your book ends, both top and bottom.
- Unfold, and using double sided tape, proceed to stick the tape on one side of the wrapping paper. Then, fold over and stick down.
- Using your scissors, cut the excess wrapping paper from the top and bottom.
- Mark the creases and fold the wrapping paper down clean against the book.
- Proceed to stick double sided tape to the top and bottom of your gift.
- Enjoy your Portfolio Style wrapped gift.
2. Kimono Style
Materials:
- Choice of wrapping paper
- Book for gift
- Box cutter
- Scissors
- Double sided tape
Instructions:
- Lay the present in the middle of the wrapping paper and pull the top edge of wrapping paper over the book so that it covers it fully.
- Fold the wrapping paper over the other side and mark approximately 2 inches from the edge.
- Create a crease where the mark is. Then, take you box cutter and cut away the excess paper.
- Proceed to wrap your book in the paper again, the wrapping paper should cover half of the height of the book. Make a crease and proceed to cut the excess paper.
- Again, place your book on your wrapping paper, centering the book from the sides and folding down from the top, marking the top edge.
- Pinch the top edges of the paper and pull down towards the side of the book, pinching the edges and smoothing the sides as you go. You should now have two triangles of paper on either side of the gift.
- Wrap your gift like a kimono. Fold each triangle flap over the main body of the present, one at a time, alternating sides. Cut away any excess paper.
- Stick down using double sided tape. Including the bottom.
- Enjoy your Kimono Style wrapped book.
3. Double Side Kimono Style
Materials:
- Choice of wrapping paper
- Book for gift
- Box cutter
- Scissors
- Double sided tape
Instructions:
- Lay the present in the middle of the wrapping paper and pull both edges of wrapping paper over the book so that it covers it equally.
- Mark and cut away the excess wrapping paper.
- Place your book back in the center of the wrapping paper and fold one side fully over.
- Mark 2 inches from the side edge. Create a crease and cut away the excess.
- Centre the book from the sides and fold over.
- Make a mark of the top and bottom edges.
- Pinch the top edges of the paper and pull down towards the side of the book, pinching the edges and smoothing the sides as you go. You should now have two triangles of paper on either side of the gift.
- Repeat on the bottom too.
- Wrap your gift like a kimono. Fold each triangle flap over the main body of the present, one at a time, alternating sides.
- Stick down using double sided tape.
- Add a ribbon for decoration. You might need some double sided sticky rounds.
- Enjoy your Double Side Kimono Style wrapped book.
