This DIY detox water recipe is a delicious way to stay hydrated and refreshed all summer long. The main ingredient is butterfly pea powder, a powerful antioxidant-rich flower with many physical and mental benefits. It can stimulate collagen growth, reduce stress and anxiety, all of which can promote healthy, glowing skin!
DIY Detox Water Recipes for a Healthier Glow
Besides all the wonderful health benefits, the butterfly pea flower is also aesthetically pleasing! When mixed with water, it turns a deep shade of coral blue. And when the tea is mixed with citrus, it changes from blue to purple and pink!
In this article, we’ll share three of our favorite detox water recipes using butterfly pea flowers. However, you can also mix the dried ingredients into salads, baked goods, or anything you want to turn blue!
Ingredients:
- Lemon-flavor soda drink
- Water
- Lemon juice
- Butterfly Pea Flowers Powder
- Lemon slices
- Ice cubes
Tools:
- A little pot
- Mortar + pestle
- Ice cubes tray
- Spoons
- Straws
- Cute Glasses
- Teacup
Directions for the Hot Blue Tea
- In your pot, add 2 to 3 cups of cold water.
- Sprinkle in 2 scoops of the butterfly pea flower powder. Stir to mix (it won’t fully dissolve until you heat it up).
- Place the pot on the stove and boil on medium to high heat. Continue to stir until the powder has dissolved and the tea is a rich, dark blue color.
- Remove the pot and pour the tea into a cup. Add a slice of lemon for a punch of citrus and enjoy.
Directions for the Summer Magic Tea
- Add a couple of ice cubes to a cute glass (not a teacup).
- Slowly pour in the blue tea that you made in recipe #1. Don’t fill it up all the way to the top.
- Add a slice of lemon and a straw to the glass.
- Gradually pour lemon juice over the blue tea. Now, pay attention to the color of the drink as you add the lemon! You’ll see how the blue turns a vibrant shade of pink and purple. It’s magic!
Directions for the Party Tea
- To prep for this detox water recipe, you’ll need the blue tea that you made in recipe #1. Pour half of the tea into an ice cube tray and freeze overnight. We recommend doing this step ahead of time before you make the party tea. You can use a fun ice cube shape as we did. Although square ice cubes also work for this detox water for weight loss recipe.
- Once the ice has frozen, remove them from the tray and add them to the mortar. Take the pestle and mash them until they are in small chunks.
- Fill your glass with the ice chunks.
- Pour the remaining pre-made blue tea over the ice.
- Add in more ice (this is why we like using the fun ice shapes). Make sure to leave a little room at the top.
- Top with a few slices of fresh lemon.
- Add a couple of colorful straws.
- Finish the tea with a pour of lemon soda and fresh lemon juice.
- Mix with the straw and enjoy your healthy, citrusy drink!
