The program includes 5 phases, one for each month. Throughout each month, you follow the goals for that phase. The program creates phases of small goals that will help you reach your larger goal.
The first month focuses on the WHY. This is a huge step that many people tend to overlook.
The second month focuses on consistency. We want the new habits to stick for the months that follow. Noom doesn’t just want short term solutions, they want long term weight management.
Sections divide the main menu.
Messages allow me to send notes and ask my coach questions. Weight Graph lets me check my daily weight loss progress and compare it with my peers using the Noom app. Recipes gives me ideas for what to cook for different meals of the day. The rest are pretty much self-explanatory.
Noom Meal Planning Review:
Speaking of meals, the Recipes section is where I think this program shines! It provides many delicious recipes, ideas, and many kinds of food to choose from. The recipes emphasis healthy eating habits and a balanced diet for your weight loss goals.
It also lets me know if it is within my preset budget. Healthy eating patterns can be expensive because of fruits vegetables. However, Noom makes it easy to encourage healthy food choices on a budget.
On a side note: If you are looking to try healthy meal plans, we highly reccomend giving Purple Carrot or Sun Basket a try! Sun Basket offers meals for all diets, while Purple Carrot specializes in a vegan diet!
I get tips about the type of food I should be eating. Use the option of setting the reminder for the three meals every day if you allow notifications. And look at that Shrimp Biryani.
The recipes give you easy-to-follow instructions and an ingredients list. They make it easy to stay in my weight loss plan by including the nutritional values of food intake. The red section reminds me I should limit the amount of a certain ingredient, which in the case of shrimp biryani, is olive oil.
If eating out is your thing, rather than making food at home. Noom has a simple system where you just mark down what you ate for each meal, and it calculates the total nutrition for you.
Noom Goal Specialist and Group Coach Review:
Throughout the program, you work with a Goal Specialist and a Group Coach. You will also have a Support Group available 24/7.
My Coach Tiffany helps me stay on track and checks in with me from time to time. She gives advice anytime I need it. I find it effective to have someone nudging me from a distance to help me stick to my goals.
Stick to the Noom program and you can lose one to two pounds a week! Hitting my weight loss goals motivated me to continue my journey.
Noom also tests your knowledge daily to see if you went through the given tips with a multiple-choice test. It keeps me accountable for my changed habits by asking me how I am coping with the new routines.
I was pleasantly surprised to have a goal specialist available to me. Once a week, they helped me set realistic goals and concrete action plans. Here is the introduction to Week 2 and reminding me to stay focused!
You follow a different set of procedures after each week. After every week you will do a weigh in. The weigh in is a reflection of your progress and plan. You may need to adjust your daily diet or exercise plans.
Final Thoughts:
All in all, Noom had exceeded expectations of first impressions. Not only can you increase your physical activity and fix your relationship with food, it is fun to do. I found myself more aware of my weight loss goals and how I was going to meet them.
The daily reminders were a huge hit in assuring me that I was not doing this alone. The mentorship is something I look forward to daily.
