These sets are designed to be bigger, more expansive in scale, have more intricate pieces and setup, and take a bit longer to complete. While a standard LEGO set for children might be a few hundred pieces, and can be completed in a matter of hours, the Creator Expert line really focuses on the long term enjoyment of the process, and usually has thousands of pieces.
We wanted to take a look at the 5 hottest LEGO sets for adults this year, and give our take on if they are worth your money. 2020 really showed that it’s important to have a good hobby to enjoy when things slow down and life can get it a little mundane. LEGO Creator Expert Haunted House (10273) – Our Favorite
The LEGO Haunted House is a great place to start with advanced LEGO sets, as it introduces the extended build time, while not having a huge amount of advanced build systems. LEGO also shared the story behind the Haunted House, the owner of the mansion was a collector of ancient artifacts, which now has set a curse on the mansion. The mansion is now set as a roller coaster ride, and you get to build it from the ground up.
This build is BIG (see our timelapse video for actual size), it is built on multiple foundation pieces, and expands and opens up to different sections of the mansion. If you’re looking for a challenge right of the bat, this is the one for you.
We personally completed it in 13 hours, it was ridiculously fun yet hard at times! Once the building is done, the elevator can go up and down, and it can illuminate thanks to the light brick in the set, and the battery is already included, so you can enjoy it right away!

If you’re someone who enjoys cheesy 80’s horror movies, or just likes a good creepy atmosphere, this is a great option to get started on LEGO sets for adults. It also makes a great birthday gift for your ghost-loving mum, dad, husband, wife, partner or friend and a fun Halloween gift!
If you’re a lover of cars, Porsche, or just looking for something a bit more compact to build as your first set, this Porsche 911 is an excellent option as a lego set for an adult. This model is extremely accurate to the Porsche 911 and is very detailed. During the build process, you will build everything, from the driver’s seat and gear shift to the flat-six engine and convertible roof.
